3. Courteney Cox (Monica)
Courteney Cox had one of the best careers before Friends, seeing as many of the young actors had yet to feature in anything major. Cox though had appeared in Murder, She Wrote, The Love Boat, Family Ties, Seinfeld and Ace Ventura before playing Monica. This continued during Friends too, with a recurring role in the Scream movies.
She seemed set then for successful career post Friends, and while it hasn’t been without its ups and downs, few would argue it hasn’t been at least moderately successful.
Her first major sitcom post Friends, Dirt, didn’t go anywhere, but Cougar Town enjoyed much more success, despite often being derided for its ridiculous title. She’s continued to act in Hollywood alongside Scream too, in Adam Sandler flicks The Longest Yard and Bedtime Stories as well as Mothers & Daughters and a voice role in Barnyard. She also recently appeared in Shameless.
She’s probably been more notorious for person reasons; not only did her divorce from David Arquette lead to her dropping the Arquette from her name, Cox’s Botox and other cosmetic surgeries have also seen her stick in the headlines after Friends as well.
