Friends: Every Halloween And Thanksgiving Episode Ranked
5. The One Where Ross Got High
While Elliott Gould portrays Jack Geller in two of Friends' Thanksgiving episodes, this was reportedly his favourite to film. Framed as a story about Chandler seeking the Geller parents' approval, the episode further explores the favoritism Ross so often receives. This culminates in an adorably comedic monologue by Christina Pickles as Judy, and it's actually nice to see golden child Ross get chastised by his parents every once in a while.
Of course, you probably remember this episode for Rachel's trifle more than anything. Her bizarre mix of custard, jam and shepherd's pie (technically cottage pie, but this is America) leads to one of Joey's better food-related gags as we discover he's been eating everybody's discarded leftovers. This side story also results in one of the better censor-beating jokes on the show when Joey blames Chandler for the cookbook's pages being stuck together.
The episode's biggest flaw is probably Phoebe's lame C-story, a newfound attraction for Jack after she dreams about him saving her from a fire. It's a one-track joke that doesn't go anywhere interesting, besides the creepy revelation that Jack likes to walk in on Monica's friends while they're changing.
Phoebe already feels unessential to the plot of most Friends Thanksgiving episodes, and this list entry doesn't do much to rectify the issue.
