Futurama: 50 Best Ever Episodes

6. The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings

At the conclusion of the original Fox run, the writers concocted a scheme to pit Fry against the returning Robot Devil. He's a welcome addition, indeed, as played by the fabulous Dan Castellaneta. It's a furiously fast-paced episode that moves swiftly over 22 minutes, seeing Fry strike a desperate deal with the Robot Devil to gain musical talent with the Holophonor. It's Faust-inspired, seeing exactly what can happen when you get what you want, and all of it works perfectly. We see the lengths at which Fry and Leela will go to for each other, all while the Robot Devil is able to cast a very ominous shadow over the closing moments. It's an episode built on sacrifice as Fry gives up everything for Leela's freedom, with a final shot that will stay with you forever.

5. Raging Bender

In what is just an absolutely perfect Bender episode, "Raging Bender" sees the Futurama writers take jabs at the world of professional wrestling and pro sports in general. There's an amusing line where Fry confuses the legitimacy of boxing with the staged world of pro wrestling, once again coming back to that charming idiot we all love. Bender's turn in pro wrestling is one that sees him achieve his wildest dreams; fame, women and money. It's almost exactly what you could imagine Bender doing, even if Fry hadn't come along, as it just fits his whole personality. The episode is also filled with references to the world of pro wrestling, and even features a cameo from MST3K robots Tom Servo and Crow.
