Jennifer Ehle was one of the most major casualties from the disastrous original Pilot episode. She was officially cast as Catelyn Stark before being replaced by Michelle Fairley after HBO ordered a full reshoot. The King's Speech actress almost certainly wasn't the direct reason for the first effort falling flat on its face, but you can tell the show-runners went in a far more contemporary direction for the medieval show, just by looking at the original promotional image for Thrones.
