Game Of Thrones: 10 Biggest Casting Mistakes

9. Nonso Anozie As Xaro Xhoan Daxos

Why It Was A Mistake: When adapting a novel to television or a movie, some odd casting choices are generally expected in order to properly the spirit of the novel on-screen. But then there are those casting choices, such as what the producers did here with Xaro Xhoan Daxos, which make you wander 'what the hell were they thinking?' In the novels, Xaro described as an wiry and bald middle aged man who dresses elegantly, likes to flaunt his wealth, and may or may not be homosexual. He also had an interesting backstory and was characterised was a sneaky political figure who was as every bit cunning as he physically looked. TV-Xaro is a young and burly Nigerian man who dresses elegantly, is somewhat modest, and definitely likes the ladies. Beyond the obvious physical differences, Nonso was quite bland in the role of Xaro and he didn't really distinguish himself much other than being the guy who banged Daenerys' handmaiden and for being the guy that was locked up to slowly rot away in a vault. Who Should€™ve Been Cast: Jeremy Irons physically fits the role far better than Nonso ever did and he is certainly talented enough to bring some nuance to Xaro.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
