Game Of Thrones: 10 Reasons It’s The Best TV Show Ever

2. The Dialogue

GOT thrives on its ability to captivate you, and one of the simplest ways it does this is through its use of dialogue. The huge spectrum of accents, prosodies and idiosyncrasies seen in GOT is a linguist's dream, and it adds a sense of believability €” as well as diversity €” to the show's characters. Tyrion for example often delights us with his wonderful anecdotes, each one executed perfectly and poetically. Bronn consistently amuses with with his questionable one-liners while, on the contrary, The Hound speaks bluntly and with force, aggressively spewing expletives at women and children without so much as a blink. Some even say he's quite succinct. In addition, the writing for the show is excellent and gripping conversations are aided by the use of sexposition (where naked people are conveniently placed in the scene). The show's use of dialect is particularly helpful when distinguishing feuding regions from one another early in the show, i.e. the North from the South. N.B Tyrion's trial speech was probably the best acted TV speech of all time, ever. Kudos, Peter Dinklage.
