Of course, if you're watching a Thrones prequel, chances are you'll be expecting some of the characters you already know to make an appearance, and thankfully there's plenty who would fit within that world, depending on the story they want to tell.

Admittedly they might not be able to pass off Sean Bean as a younger Ned Stark, and may need some new actors to fill a variety of other roles, but casting has long been a strength of Game Of Thrones, and there are some characters deserving of more screen time regardless.

We only got to see Robert as a fat man unhappy with life, when he was once a fearsome warrior. We could see the young and cocky Jaime Lannister becoming the Kingslayer. Barristan Selmy is an old man when we meet him, and although still capable of holding his own, it'd be great to see his truly legendary exploits. There's a number of popular characters with fabled histories that are just ripe for the telling.
