Then

Portrayed by Conan Stevens, the Gregor Clegane of Season 1 is an absolute brute. We first meet him in a tourney, where he kills Ser Hugh and comes close to killing Ser Loras Tyrell too, before his brother intervenes. Although he does bend the knee, he's really something of a mad dog and is constantly unleashed to wreak havoc and generally doing whatever the hell he pleases.

Now

He's portrayed by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, after previously being Ian Whyte for a season. That's a pretty big change in itself, since he's had two different faces since Season 1, but his character has changed too. He's still a killing machine, but whereas in the early days he was off-the-leash and raided as he pleased (and even then, his most monstrous crimes were those only spoken of), he's now simply Cersei's attack dog. He's kept on the lead and barks, and is very occasionally allowed to actually bite, just spending most of his time standing menacingly by her side.

Oh, and if that's not enough, the guy literally died and was reanimated as Qyburn's Monster.
