14. The Dance Of Dragons (S5 E9)

Speaking of those eggs, well, they hatched of course. Then the dragons grew, and grew, and grew, but they didn't really see a whole lot of action until the back end of Season 5 when Drogon drops in to save Daenerys and her group in the fighting pits of Meereen. The special effects of the dragon riding were questionable, but that doesn't take away from the significance of the episode. Aside from Daenerys, Jorah's badass redemption story continued, while little Shireen Baratheon's death could actually be the hardest individual death to swallow in the entire show as the sweet girl was burned on a stake by her own power-mad father to no avail. It was harrowing, unenjoyable, and powerful, three words that often sum up the top moments in Thrones.
