Game Of Thrones: 15 Early Predictions For Season 8
7. Cleganebowl Doesn't Happen
After years and years of hype, season 7 ended without the much-wanted Cleganebowl show-down at the Dragonpit that a lot of people expected for The Hound and The Mountain. Sure, they shared a stare-down and The Hound dropped some verbal barbs on his brother, but it was far from the blood and glory battle we'd been led to expect.
So will it happen in the final season, now that we know Cersei is still very much Dany and Jon's enemy? Probably not.
The Hound said something very interesting when he met his brother - "You know who’s coming for you. You’ve always known” - seemingly distancing himself from Gregor's eventual fate. There's no way The Hound is the kind of character to refer to himself in the third person, so the "who" he's talking about has to be someone else entirely - and that "who" will get to him before a legitimate Cleganebowl can happen.
It's now just a matter of working out who that is. It could be Arya, since he's on her list; or it could be Beric Dondarrian, since Ned Stark tasked him with killing Gregor; or, finally, it could be Aegon or Danaerys Targaryen, in an act of vengeance for the murder of their family. All are more likely at this stage than Sandor Clegane.
