Game Of Thrones' 15 Hardest Characters (And How Likely They Are To Survive)

Hold on to your chickens...

Game of Thrones Jaime and Bronn

The term "feudal society", while apt, is slightly too academic to fully convey just how violent Game of Thrones really is. These past five seasons we’ve seen some pretty tough individuals kill a lot of people, but not even being violent means you’re safe.

Whether it's betrayal, getting an infected boo-boo, or having a bounty on your head for telling the King to f**k off, this show is just as dangerous for the tough guys. Perhaps even more so.

There are highborn Lords trained in castles, and lowborn nobodies who’ve learned the hard way, but they've all proven themselves formidable. In this article we will be looking at those characters skilled at doing people in, and weighing their chances in the cruel, cruel world they live in.

All concerned are either still alive, or at least not definitely dead going into Season 6. That may seem unfair to the living, but trust me; ambiguous death is quite a cushy gig in this show. Of course, everybody is probably going to die in the end, but who's got the best chance of making it to the last episode alive...

15. Jaqen H'ghar

Game of Thrones Jaime and Bronn
HBO

"A girl gives a man his own name?"

If a man is no one, is he really alive and can he really die? That's not rhetorical, I really want to know.

The thing about this guy is that the man we know as Jaqen H'gar could just be a phantasm or a complete fabrication. The faceless men could use the Jaqen identity as their public avatar to spook the natives and we may just actually have seen Arya interact with a different person every time.

This man, assuming he exists, can move lightning fast and without being seen or heard - as witnessed after his hilarious reaction to Arya's urgent need to take a name before Tywin was warned. Any man who can lazily kill a man under Tywin Lannister's nose and return to his post entirely undetected is a formidable force indeed.

If Arya is cast out for misusing the spooky face hut, we may never see him again and, while this means he's safe from death, we'll never clear up the mystery of who exactly he is. For this to be compelling enough to believe outright we'd need a scene between him and his colleagues. A man who prefers one face to another is a man who, if nothing else, the audience can at least keep track of.

Violence and toughness are not as off the charts as they are with others, but given that he can kill as easily as blowing out a candle you wouldn't bet against him if he were taking on any individual on this list. As he himself said; "a man can fight"
