Game Of Thrones: 4 Ups And 6 Downs From The Season Finale

5. Arya Crosses Off A Name€ - Up

€œYou€™re no one.€ They are the words Arya speaks to Meryn Trant before slitting his throat, but they aren€™t exactly true. Trant is clearly someone of meaning to Arya, otherwise she wouldn€™t be killing him. Arya, too, is someone, otherwise she wouldn€™t be killing a person she hadn€™t been told to. This murder goes against her Faceless Man training, and is all the better for it. She could've killed the Thin Man, and indeed the prospect of her carrying out the assignments given to her by the House of Black and White is an exciting one. What€™s even more exciting is getting to see Arya Stark go all vengeful on the people who make up her kill-list, and that€™s what we get here. She draws out the murder, first blinding Trant and taking her time to remind him of who she is and why she€™s killing him. It€™s a gruesome scene, and one that plays better because the audience cares about Arya and wants to see her get her revenge, even if it does lead to some consequences a little later on.
