Game Of Thrones: 6 Outrageous Fan Theories About Hodor

3. He Is The God Of The White Walkers

In probably the most famous fan theories surrounding Hodor, we're told that Hodor is in fact "The Great Other" - the god to the White Walkers, if you will. It's so famous and so believable (?), that even Kristian Nairn (the actor who plays Hodor) believes this theory might actually be true. It could also be wishful thinking on the actor's part, to be honest.

So where did this insane theory originate? How could anyone believe that Hodor is The Great Other?

Well, it turns out that George R. R. Martin is known to incorporate Norse mythology in his writing and that Hodor could be related to the Norse god Höðr (or Hodr), who is believed to be the God of Winter.

Ah, now it's starting to make sense, sort of. Perhaps he's undercover and is leading Bran to his doom... well, that would certainly suck, but when was Game Of Thrones ever reasonable?
