Game Of Thrones: 7 Best Moments From The Mountain And The Viper
3. Daenerys Banishes Jorah
Jorah's spying on Daenerys is finally revealed to her in this episode when Barristan Selmy receives a copy of the pardon Robert Baratheon sent him years ago. Barristan lets Jorah know he is going to show her, which leads to a confrontation in the throne room of Meereen. Daenerys asks for an explanation, and Jorah does not lie, revealing that he informed Robert of her pregnancy. This enrages her feelings of betrayal. Jorah begs for forgiveness, even admitting out loud his love for her, but she will hear none of it. She banishes him from her inner circle and Meereen completely, and Jorah is last seen riding out into an uncertain future. This was a very heartbreaking moment. It's been a long time since Daenerys's story has had a shake up this big, and it came just as things were starting to get a bit complacent. Jorah and Daenerys have been a team since episode one, so to see this seasoned pairing split up after all this time was hard to witness. Dany's reaction was surprisingly ice cold, particularly after she found out his role in the assassination attempt, but you can see the emotion under her steeled reserve. Jorah on the other hand was a complete mess, as you can see his attempts to keep himself from blubbering like a baby. Both actors give great nuanced performances, especially Iain Glen. Given what we know about Jorah and his motivations, we can't help but feel like Daenerys is being too harsh. He played an integral role in establishing her as a force to be reckoned with; giving her the motivation and guidance needed to go forward and make good on her family name. But the decision was made and both characters have to live with it. The question now is will we see Jorah Mormont again? And if so, where?
