Game Of Thrones: 8 Reasons 'Battle Of The Bastards' Is The Show's Most Overrated Episode

5. There Was Far Too Little Of Ser Davos Seaworth In Battle

This might well be a more personal hang-up, but I'm still convinced it's a fair criticism of 'Battle of the Bastards' on the whole.

We've only really seen Ser Davos as an advisory figure, and this was our chance to see him kicking a fair degree of Bolton butt in battle. The character has admitted on a few occasions that he's not a great fighter, but it still would have been great to actually get a proper moment or two showing him dealing some damage.

Instead, he just kind of disappears and reappears across the span of the episode, to the point where you were left wondering where he was at any given time (or whether he'd died and you'd missed it). There was no sense of his 'place' in the battle.

On the whole, 'Battle of Bastards' did a remarkable job of depicting a large scale battle that made sense visually; the lack of any proper Ser Davos' battle moments made for somewhat disappointing viewing, though, especially since both Tormund and Wun Wun got their big moments to shine.
