Game Of Thrones: 8 Times The Show Went Too Far

5. When The Show-Runners Cast Sibel Kekilli As Shae

The easiest way to identify Shae is to pretty much say €œthe one with the terrible, terrible acting€. Alternatively you could describe her as Tyrion's sometime prostitute, who he murders after she ultimately betrays him. The problem with the character? In the TV show, Shae is much more emotional, dramatic and frankly more important than she is in the books, which makes it all the more unforgivable that they cast someone as bad at acting as Sibel Kekilli. Her performance on the show is nothing short of utterly wooden and stilted, making it incredibly difficult to believe that Tyrion would ever fall for her. It's clear that the show-runners cast her for her looks rather than her acting ability (whether or not the fact she was previously a porn star had anything to do with her casting as a sex worker we shall never know). Nevertheless, it's one of the few examples when the show took its casting liberties way too far.
