4. When Bran And Friends Fight A Bunch Of CGI Skeletons
After a whole seasons worth of watching Bran, Hodor, Jojen and Meera make their way towards Bran's vision, what we're gifted is one of the show's most completely underwhelming and cheesy moments. In the books, Bran and the gang are accosted by Wights, dead corpses that are raised from the earth. Wights move slowly and clumsily and are said to be raised by White Walkers (or Others as they're known in the books). The show, however, replaced these corpse-like, menacing figures with corny CGI skeletons that look like they've been transplanted from a game of Skyrim. Slow-moving Wights wouldn't have made for an exciting climax to Bran's story (just a totally chilling one), so the show-runners decided to use goofy-looking skeletons (which have since become a bit of a laughing stock online). In its attempt to be more exciting, the show sacrificed tension and atmosphere, and this is one change that goes way too far. And to top it all off, the Three-Eyed Crow is nothing more than a man covered in branches, not the skeletal figure clothed in black and sitting atop a throne of tangled roots that book readers were hoping for.
