19. Ghost

Unlike Nymeria, Jon Snow's runt direwolf Ghost has been a close companion to Snow's storyline and has been given at least some room to develop a personality of his own. This should not come as too much of a surprise, given the show's fascination with underdogs and weaklings, and it wouldn't be entirely unfitting for the dog to end up sitting on the Iron Throne.

Having been saved by Jon from almost certain death, Ghost has become not only his closest friend but also one of his most useful weapons on the battlefield. He's also saved Sam from a wight, saved Gilly from being raped by Night Watch bullies and made a stand against Aliser Thorne and his mutineers.

He might only be a dog, but he's definitely a good one, Brent.
