Game Of Thrones: Every Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
66. A Man Without Honour (S2E7)
Written By: David Benioff & D.B. Weiss Directed By: David Nutter
Theon reaches peak a**holery in this episode, with the murder of two farmboys that he passes off as Bran and Rickon Stark. It's not just that he's a di*k, but the scene itself isn't all that great.
We also see Jaime Lannister kill his cousin and attempt an escape, which is obviously going to be doomed, and Daenerys is still wasting time in Qarth with Xaro and the Thirteen, which was a pretty rubbish storyline.
Thankfully, the episode starts off the flirtations between Ygritte and Jon (it's a one-way street at this stage), and gives us another brilliant scene between Arya and Tywin as he teaches her how not to act high-born.
65. Mhysa (S3E10)
Written By: David Benioff & D.B. Weiss Directed By: David Nutter
Although season finales on Thrones aren't usually as celebrated as the episode that directly precedes them, for the most part they're still excellent episodes.
Mhysa is the exception to this, which struggles in the aftermath of the Red Wedding (hard to blame it, in fairness). It has some good moments, with Ygritte shooting arrows into Jon, but can't help feeling incredibly anti-climatic. The end scene of Daenerys being held aloft by a sea of unnamed Yunkai as a saviour is problematic, erring into colonialism.
Also, this is the episode where Gendry starts rowing. Which he'd do for some four years.
