1. Dragons. Lots Of Dragons

The trailer for House of the Dragon ends with Daemon Targaryen’s hair raising utterance;

“Dreams didn’t make us kings. Dragons did.”

The stunning set pieces involving dragons on Game of Thrones were amongst the most visually impressive feats ever seen on TV. Arguably the most exciting aspect of House of the Dragon is the fact that it will feature dragons on a scale that even its predecessor did not accomplish.

The three dragons that feature in the original series were the last of their kind, following the dragons dying out hundreds of years prior to the events of the original.

Taking place at a time where dragons still roamed Westeros, Martin has already confirmed that the first season of House of the Dragon will feature at least 17 dragons. Each dragon will possess their own distinct personalities, fearsome reputations and complex relationships with their Targaryen rider.

Legendary dragons from Fire and Blood, such as Prince Daemon’s red behemoth Caraxes and Princess Rhaenyra’s fearsome yellow Syrax are certain to feature in the first season. Those who have read Fire and Blood will be aware that when civil war breaks out, that there are dragon riders on both sides of the conflict, setting the scene for unforgettable battles and airborne, fire breathing duels between the main characters.

If this doesn’t get you excited for House of the Dragon, this show may not be for you.
