Game Of Thrones Season 5: 9 Book Changes And What They Mean For The Show

3. Brienne Goes To Winterfell

In the show: Continuing with Brienne's vow to find the Stark girls and return them to safety, she and Pod are very much on the trail of Sansa. There was the meeting in the inn, and while Sansa spurned her then that hasn't deterred her (she takes the name of her sword extremely seriously). We've now seen her arriving pretty much at Winterfell, which is of course where Sansa is, and arranging a means for signal to be delivered should the eldest Stark girl be in trouble. In the books: With Sansa still shut up in the Vale, Brienne continues on a wild goose chase around the Riverlands. She is eventually captured by the Brotherhood Without Banners, and taken to Lady Stoneheart, where she is given the choice of dying or bringing Jaime Lannister to justice. A Feast For Crows ends with Brienne, set to hang, screaming an unrevealed word. She is then seen in A Dance With Dragons, attempting to make Jaime accompany her alone to save Sansa. What it means: As we've already seen her meet Sansa, and the two are in very close proximity, then there's a good chance Brienne will get involved at Winterfell. She could perform a similar role to Mance and his spearwives, in helping to rescue Sansa/Fake Arya. Or, with Stannis headed to Winterfell, and her vow to kill him, then we may well see the two of them face off, a battle one of them may not survive, or forced to work together against the Boltons. There's also the increasingly-slim-to-the-point-we-really-need-to-stop-talking-about-it of a Lady Stoneheart appearance. We can but hope.
