Game Of Thrones Season 6: 9 Book Storylines That Could Still Be Used
8. Randyll Tarly Rides To King's Landing
What Is It? Randyll Tarly, father of Samwell, Lord of Horn Hill, and one of the most respected battle tacticians in all of Westeros, is named Master of Laws by Kevin Lannister, in an attempt to try and keep control in King's Landing with Cersei's power on the wane.
This comes after Randyll has already marched his army to King's Landing, after hearing of Margaery's imprisonment. The Faith releases Margaery to him, after he's sworn an oath saying he'll return her for trial.
Odds Of It Happening? Well, the appearance of Randyll is confirmed, with actor James Faulkner (known for his roles in, amongst other things, Downton Abbey) playing the head of House Tarly.
As for whether or not he'll make it to King's Landing, it does make sense. The logical solution, depending on how fast Sam's own story progresses, would be to have a Tarly family reunion, and then have the head of the House ride to King's Landing. We've already seen an army gathered in front of the Faith, and Margaery seemingly aligning with the High Sparrow, meaning a release is likely as well, so being released to Lord Tarly before her trial (not by combat) could happen.
