Game Of Thrones Season 7: 11 Crucial Things That Must Happen
6. Sam's Storyline Gets Some Real Purpose
One of the weakest parts of Season 6 - indeed, one of the only plotlines to let the season down - was Sam's storyline. Although it had nice moments, such as the dinner scene with his family, and getting to see the Citadel, it lacked momentum and not a lot really happened (a victim of it being so spread out over the season).
Now he's at the Citadel, though, things should get a whole lot more interesting. Sam doesn't have time to train as a Maester, and nor is there going to be much of a call for one at Castle Black pretty soon.
That means instead of training, we should see him discover some key information that will help in the endgame battle against the White Walkers. Quite what that is remains up for debate - something on how to defeat them? How to create Valyrian steel and/or dragonglass? Information on their origins or powers? - but it should be rather important.
Sam is ostensibly a main character, but often gets forgotten about. This - along with the presence of Jim Broadbent's Archmaester - should add plenty of purpose and intruigue to his storyline.
