Has there ever been anything as brutal as watching Lannister soldiers being turned into smores?

Even with that much gore, there was no fetishism to the violence, and as much as there was significant conflict between how cool watching Dany rain fire down on her enemies was and how f*cking awful it was on the other end, the message was very obviously anti-war.

That's why Dany had to somewhat lose herself and channel the "monster" within (even though she is just in her vengeance). That's just how complex and incredibly clever this show is. And it was impossible to pick a side, which is just genius...
