Game Of Thrones Season 7: 6 Signs A Dragon Will Die Very Soon

1. The Ice Dragon Theory

Like it or not, but some of the leaks that drop online before Game Of Thrones is released every year actually prove to be legitimate, and it's worth paying attention (provided you don't mind the spoilers).

The most compelling rumours this year came out courtesy of Reddit and concerns an ice dragon. It stated that one of Dany's dragons will die in a daring action sequence beyond the Wall in the final episodes, and that the Night King will raise it to join his hellish forces.

The theory doesn't come out of nowhere either: ice dragons have their place in Westerosi lore (as well in George RR Martin's work elsewhere), and you'd struggle to find a purer expression of what Game Of Thrones is than the image of a dragon and its icy twin locked in battle. It feels right, and that spells disaster for one of the dragons.

Obviously, that would also answer the Three Headed Dragon theory rather differently to Tyrion being a secret Targaryen, as the Night King would prove to be the third rider (after Dany and Jon). And honestly, it sounds like such a good idea that it couldn't possibly NOT happen.

Game of Thrones returns Sunday at 9/8c on HBO.
