Game Of Thrones Season 7 Finale: 9 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Dragon And The Wolf'
4. Jaime Leaves Cersei
B...book Jaime? Is that you?
Jaime Lannister's path to redemption is one of the most fascinating and complex character arcs in all of A Song of Ice and Fire, and while he's still rather great on the show (with a lot of help from Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's sublime performance), it has been frustrating to see him remain at Cersei's side through everything she's done.
Not anymore, though. Cersei unveils her masterplan at last, which includes both the destruction of the realm and possibly marrying Euron Greyjoy, and it's the straw that breaks the camel's back.
Betrayed in various ways (and with Brienne's words still ringing in his ears), he leaves his sister behind to join the fight. Even if it should've happened before now, it's a very well-executed way of bringing him to that point, with some gorgeous flourishes to cap it off: putting the glove on the hand is a nice bit of symbolism, but even better is snow falling in King's Landing. Winter has finally come, and it's a beautiful bit of cinematography and a fitting moment for Jaime to leave on.
