Game Of Thrones Season 8: 10 Crucial Things That Must Happen
7. The Direwolves Return
Across the entire series, there's perhaps been no bigger victim of what you lose in jumping from page to screen than the lack of direwolves on the show. While they did have a few moments early on, as the show has grown the appearances of the direwolves have dwindled, with the expensive CGI and the difficulty to get them looking right leading to the showrunners not using them as much as they might otherwise have done.
That's meant the likes of Jon and Arya not developing the same connection to their wolves as they do in the books, but also that Ghost hasn't been by Jon's side in moments when he absolutely would've been, like Battle of the Bastards or Beyond The Wall. In fact, Ghost hasn't been seen since just after Jon came back.
This is the final season. The one where they've got a bigger budget per episode than ever before, and where they need to go all out. Yes, that means a lot of expensive dragon action, but it should also give us the direwolves too. Have Ghost fighting by Jon's side. Have Nymeria leading a wolf pack as they tear through some wights. It probably means killing them off too, but at least it'll give them some real purpose and a fitting send-off.
