Game Of Thrones Season 8: 10 Crucial Things That Must Happen

3. The Night King Is Defeated

The Night King is on his way. He's killed a dragon, broken through the wall, and now, accompanied by hundreds of his White Walker lieutenants and 100,000 or so wights, is marching on Westeros, intent on killing all that lies before him.

While there should be some major casualties, the series can't end with the Night King being ultimately victorious. People might say that's a fitting conclusion to a saga that has been filled with so much death and misery and doesn't have a happy ending. Except, well, it's not.

The White Walkers represent death, and while this would mean death wins, it would also mean that every character you care about is dead, and that the show ends with a magical ice zombie is the victor, and that... doesn't really sound all that satisfying. It's certainly not bittersweet, which is what the ending needs to be. The Night King will come close to winning, and it's going to cost a hell of a lot to stop him, but in the end he needs to be defeated.
