7. Winterfell Is Burned Down

Winterfell may be ready to try and keep the dead out - the armies are set, the battle plans drawn, the trenches dug - but we know they'll be making it inside the castle. The trailer revealed various shots of fighting within Winterfell's walls and, even if it hadn't, there's no way they could feasibly keep them at bay completely.

What else do we know is going to happen? There'll be dragons involved. There'll be lots of fire. And things probably aren't going to go too well for our heroes.

It seems quite likely that, rather than winning the war here, they end up having to escape. That will come with a slight sense of victory, in that they'll kill plenty of wights, but it won't end the Great War. And they'll do that by burning Winterfell down with the wights trapped inside. It's the logical endpoint: having had all the living Starks reunited for the first time since Season 1, it'd be a tragic payoff to that journey, and it'd be the biggest weapon they have to give them time to get away.
