Game Of Thrones Season 8 Ending: 10 Last-Minute Predictions For The Finale

1. The Iron Throne Is Destroyed

We've heard for almost eight seasons now that the Iron Throne is the real prize of Game Of Thrones. It's even alluded to in the title, if you needed more of a hint. But what if the prize isn't even going to be around by the time the final credits roll?

As already qualified, there's a very distinct chance that Sansa will be very powerful by the end of the show - her arc demands and deserves it, after all - but even if there is a King or Queen of the Seven Kingdoms by the end, they won't sit on that throne.

Its history is too much like the history of Tolkien's Ring Of Power and for anyone to even remotely Break The Wheel - which was once what this was all about - something so symbolic of man's thirst for power and war for so long cannot stick around. It would be a defiance of George RR Martin's fundamental messages.

So expect it to be destroyed somehow. Maybe by Dany before she's taken down herself - it is, after all, a symbol of her family's oppression in the past? Maybe by dragonfire? Maybe it's already been destroyed in the attack on the Red Keep? Time will tell.
