Game Of Thrones Season 8: Who Dies In 'The Last Of The Starks'
The fourth episode packs a punch.
Warning: Contains MAJOR spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4.
The Great War has been won. Now it's time for The Last War.
Episode 4, titled The Last of the Starks, deals with the fallout from The Long Night: it opens with the burning of the bodies outside Winterfell, before things get a little more cheery with a celebration of the hard-fought victory.
Not before long, however, attention turns from the North to the South, with Daenerys intent on ripping out Cersei "root and stem". That leads to Jon Snow and Davos Seaworth heading down the Kingsroad for King's Landing, while Tyrion, Varys et al travel down to Dragonstone by boat, with Dany and her dragons flying overhead.
It's on that trip down the first of the episode's two deaths happen, and the most shocking of the pair as well. As the dragons approach their home, a crossbow bolt comes out of nowhere to hit the already injured Rhaegal, quickly followed by another to the head that sends the dragon falling into the sea. The camera then reveals that Euron Greyjoy and his Iron Fleet had been lying in wait, with a number of Qyburn's scorpions at the ready.
They launch an attack on the boats, which everyone survives but, in the ensuing chaos, Missandei is somehow captured and taken to King's Landing as a prisoner for Cersei, another example of Euron's favourite gift for his Queen. She still seems to enjoy it to be fair.
That then leads to the second death of the episode. As Tyrion attempts to engage in peace talks and have Cersei stand down, the Queen instead takes the opposite approach. Atop the walls of King's Landing, and with Dany and Grey Worm both watching on in a mix of horror and fury, she has the Mountain behead Missandei of Narth.
The Last of the Starks ends on a shot of Daenerys' face, hell-bent on revenge, and The Last War is well and truly on.
