Game Of Thrones: The Best Episode From Every Season
2. The Spoils Of War (S7E4)
Season eight is infamous for its dip in quality, but things had started going downhill from the start of season seven. Benioff and Weiss had already rejected a seventh ten-episode season, and the lazy writing and lack of logic or reason had begun to seep in.
In spite of this however, season seven was able to boast one of the most epic and spectacular battles in the history of the show. It had been built up for six and a half seasons, but Daenerys, her Dothraki, and her dragons finally crossed the Narrow Sea to bring fire and blood.
Such a phenomenon had been spoken about by Robert Baratheon, who feared the Dothraki, and Ned Stark, who felt certain the screaming warriors would never invade Westeros, way back in the second episode of the entire series. It's fair to say that, largely thanks to Dany and Drogon, and Jaime and Bronn, this more than lived up to expectations.
Looking back, you could argue this was the true beginning of Daenerys' descent into cruelty and madness. What she did to the Tarlys was unspeakable, shocking, and just the precursor to the death and destruction she would ultimately bring to Kings' Landing.
