Game Of Thrones: The Meaning Behind Every Episode Title (Season 2)
Episode 2 The Night Lands
This is fairly self-explanatory from the context it is used in the episode; the night lands being the Dothraki word for their interpretation of a heaven-like afterlife where you are reunited with your ancestors. In the episode, 'the night lands' are referred to by Irri, Dany's Dothraki handmaiden, who tells Dany that Rokharo, one of the bloodriders sent off to scout for a welcoming resting-place in the previous episode, who's horse returns with his decapitated head in it's saddlebag. Irri explains that dothraki cannot go on to the night lands if their body is not intact, but Khaleesi reassures her that she will build him a funeral pyre and that he will still be able to go on to the afterlife.
