Game Of Thrones Theories: 13 Epic Season 6 Moments Still To Come

6. Rickon, RIP

Game of Thrones Smalljon Umber Rickon Stark
HBO

It's going to be awful, but there's no way Ramsay Bolton is going to keep as powerful a weapon of manipulation locked in his dungeon as Rickon Stark when he's about to go toe-to-toe with his brother.

Unfortunately for the youngest and most pointless of the Stark brood, Rickon is largely pointless. He has no compelling backstory, no formula suggesting he's the chosen one, no magical powers, and no personal vendettas to resolve. You just know that he's going to die for emotional effect: perhaps led out onto the battlefield and slain in front of his brother and sister as part of Ramsay's mind games.

Likelihood: 9/10

How can he possibly remain alive? First off, this is Ramsay Bolton we're talking about: he kills for sport, he seeks every advantage over an enemy, and the Geneva Conventions are as alien to him as the idea of consent. That's strike one.

Then there's how powerful an effect his death would have on Jon Snow's preparations for battle. That's strike two.

And then there's the fact that Rickon has no significance in the wake of the battle to Ramsay. If he loses, he's effectively giving his defeater a present, and if he wins, there's no Stark family left to torture. All Rickon would do is represent a rallying symbol for loyalists: he's about as dead meat as they come.
