Another possible mother for everyone's favourite gallant hero with the iconic furrowed brow. Ashara Dayne was a lady-in-waiting to Princess Elia Martell. During the infamous tourney at Harrenhall that we discussed earlier, she proved to be a very popular woman, dancing with many men, including Eddard Stark. Following the events of the Tower of Joy, Ned went to Starfall to inform house Dayne of Ser Arthurs death and return the greatsword Dawn. The news led to Ashara committing suicide by jumping from a tower, although her body was never recovered. This is all interesting because Ned Stark soon returned to Winterfell with Jon Snow, claiming he was his bastard son and refusing to name his mother. That sparked rumours that Ashara was the childs mother, although Barristan Selmy believes the woman gave birth to a stillborn daughter who was conceived after a rape at the tourney of Harrenhall. Who knows, but this woman is full of intrigue and certainly deserves her time on screen in some manner or another.
