8. King Robert And Ned Stark As Youngsters
Speaking of key characters as youngsters, how great would it be to see both King Robert and Ned Stark in their youth. Fans are all well aware that the pair were fostered by Jon Arryn in the Vale of Arryn during their youth, and while there they trained to be the warriors and leaders of the realm that they became in later life. During that time they naturally became firm friends, which was something that clearly led to Roberts Rebellion being successful and giving us the story that were all familiar with. It would be fascinating to see the young men having to leave their homes to live under the guidance of Jon Arryn, perhaps starting as enemies before becoming fast friends and allies after some sort of previously unmentioned event. All of this would also give us a very natural introduction for Lyanna Stark, through Roberts adoration of her. Such a set up could also lead to the presentation of Prince Rhaegar and his kidnapping of Lyanna, which was of course the reason that Robert and Ned rebelled against the Targaryens later on down the line. Basically, this flashback scene could be used as the starting point for most of the events that followed in the story, and on this particular list.
