Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Breaker Of Chains"

4. Samwell Is Worried About Gilly

Though Jon Snow is the main character on The Wall, Sam is having his own adventures. Well...not so much adventures as dilemmas. At the end of last season, he finally got Craster€™s daughter Gilly and her newborn son to The Wall. However, Sam still worries about Gilly being around all these men. One hundred men and only one woman isn€™t a good ratio for her. Sam also points out that even though they€™re his €œbrothers,€ many of these men are still criminals, and last season€™s rebellion against Lord Commander Mormont proved that taking vows doesn€™t mean that these men won€™t turn against each other. To keep her safe, Sam takes Gilly to Mole Town and gets her a job serving at a tavern. Unfortunately for Sam, Gilly looks at this relocation more as him trying to get rid of her rather than to protect her. Sam brings up a good point. Though the Night€™s Watch is supposed to be an honourable organisation, many of the men who make it up don€™t fit that description. Those vows of celibacy don€™t mean squat since a majority of them visit the whorehouses in Mole€™s Town. It€™s not unreasonable for Sam to think someone might rape her. Still, it€™s obvious that Sam and Gilly have a special relationship, so her believing that he€™s setting her aside is understandable as well. These kids need to have a chat on how they feel about each other. Communication is key in any relationship, be it with a normal couple or between an awkward, pudgy Nights Watchman and his wildling friend.
