Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "First Of His Name"
4. Brienne And Podrick Are The Shows New Comedy Duo
Last episode, Jaime assigned Podrick to travel with Brienne as her squire. He served Tyrion well, and Jaime figured he could help Brienne on her journey to find Sansa. Well, it turns out Podrick may not be as talented as Jaime thought. While traveling to the Wall (Brienne believes Sansa might be with Jon), Podrick has trouble controlling his horse. Brienne asks if hes learned to ride a horse, and he says he learned when he was young. Brienne, who believes she has no need for a squire, says that she doesnt need him and that she frees him from his oath. Podrick decides to stick around anyway. Later, when they stop to rest, Podrick ends up burning their dinner because he forgot to skin the rabbit. Amazed at how incompetent he is at these things, Brienne asks him what he did when he served Tyrion. Most of his duties were just delivering messages, serving food and drink and washing his clothes. She asks whether he did anything related to combat, and he reveals that he killed a man at Blackwater to save Tyrion, and not just any man - a Kingsguard. Deciding to cut the kid some slack, she lets him help her take off her armour. They havent been together as long as Arya and The Hound have been, but Podrick and Brienne look like another great duo for Game of Thrones. Shes the black sheep knight whos fulfilling her obligations, and hes the youthful squire whos not great at his job, but hes learning. Together, theyll take Westeros by storm...or at least cause a bit of trouble.
