Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "First Of His Name"

5. Arya Gets Another Lesson From The Hound

The odd couple have stopped for the night, and while The Hound is trying to sleep, Arya is reciting the names of all the men she plans to kill. At the mention of The Mountain, Sandor says hate is a good thing to keep someone going, but if she runs into his brother, make sure he can get a piece of him. He then tells her to finish her prayer, and she says she only has one name left: The Hound. The next morning, Sandor sees that Arya is gone. He eventually finds her near the river practicing her €œwater dancing€ with Needle. Despite her insistence that she was trained by Syrio Forel, the First Sword to the Sealord of Braavos, Sandor finds her technique stupid, stating that Braavosi are €œgreasy haired bastards.€ When Arya tells him that Syrio was killed by Meryn Trant, Sandor questions how he could be the greatest swordsman that ever lived if he couldn€™t beat Trant, regardless of if he had a weapon or not. Sandor goads her into trying to kill her, but when she stabs him with Needle, the sword can€™t pierce his armor. Backhanding her in the face, he says that her friend died because Trant had armour and a big sword. Arya may hate The Hound, but she is learning from him. Sandor is teaching her how to survive in this harsh world. Granted, his methods are lacking, but in his own, twisted way, he€™s showing her how to properly defend herself, both physically and mentally. Arya thinks she can kill all the people on her list, but there€™s no way that€™s going to happen at her skill level. She€™s still thinking like a child, and she€™ll have to change her mindset if she wants to accomplish anything, let alone trying to seek vengeance against those who have wronged her. By the way, these two could fill an hour by themselves. Does anybody else want a spinoff?
