Games Of Thrones Season 7 Finale: What 'The Dragon And The Wolf' Really Means
8. Theon Is Redeemed (And Mounts A Rescue For Yara)
Having met with Jon to apologise for his crime, Theon was absolved (of what Jon could absolve) and realised that he owes his sister his life. He vowed there and then to go after Yara, who was the only one who tried to save him while he was in Ramsay's captivity, and confronted his men about mounting a rescue.
Naturally, the one who has been casting disgusted looks at him all season spoke up and effectively kicked off a leadership challenge, that Theon won by virtue of having no genitals to be attacked.
The testicle assault was a little on the nose (it certainly wasn't on the testicles), but it at least added some symbolism and allowed Theon to sort of claim his own disability. And it means we'll get to see Theon going after Yara next season.
It's just rather unfortunate that while he has regained control of his men, he's taking them in entirely the wrong direction (or very possibly into a trap, given what we later found out about Euron's part in Cersei's plan).
