Gotham: 10 Reasons The Court Of Owls Will Enhance The Show
8. Gordon vs Gotham's History
The initial story that brings the Court of Owls to the forefront of the Batman mythos is an awesome one, instantly making them big-time players due to not even Batman, a detective so skilled that he could unlock the mystery of your girlfriends bra simply by looking at her, knowing that they existed beyond myth and legend. Gotham has the luxury of picking and choosing aspects from over 75 years of source material to modify for their shows continuity and the main Court of Owls story-line offers an abundance of plot points that could be featured, albeit with changes. Jim Gordon will have the opportunity to wade in the deepest, darkest waters of Gotham's history and try not to get freaked out every time something brushes against his leg. With the Court, Gordon can be substituted for Batman and find himself unraveling the mysteries of the Court, tangled up in the foundations of Gotham like a pair of headphones in a pocket full of pubes. The Court play their first hand with the body of a 'John Doe', a man made into a pin-cushion, crucified with numerous antique throwing knives, all of them bearing the image of an owl. Whoever killed them man missed every major artery on purpose, wanting the man to bleed out like a haemophiliac with a haemorrhage. Gordon is skeptical of the myth of the Court, but the wheels begin to turn and the Court prepare to hand out their sentences.
