Gotham Season 2: 10 Awesome Moments (And 4 That Sucked)

7. Jerome Betrayed

I mentioned in this article that the show-runner of Gotham, Bruno Heller, loves himself a red herring so much that he refuses to eat anything but. Incidentally, he should see a doctor because he may or may not have mercury poisoning. Jerome was a red herring in the truest sense of the world and here€™s why; the guy was the Joker. He was the 80€™s glam rock Joker, but with that laugh and the way he carried himself about? Come on. The entire audience got Rick Roll€™d by the Rick Astley of Joker€™s. Seeing Jerome cast as the unstable stepping stone in Theo€™s grasp for public affection was a definite swerve. When a heart punches a knife really hard, generally the knife wins every time so Jerome is gone (unless a certain Scott Snyder plot point from the comics comes to fruition €“ the possibility of the Joker being immortal). It was a brilliant ploy by Glavan and completely sinister. All in all, Jerome was something to keep the lingering viewer in tune because the Joker and his allure is money. It's a little bittersweet, as Cameron Monoghan gave an entertaining performance. One that was unsettling yet gave you a little kick as if you were his accomplice Jerome was electric in a host of fun scenes, from the school bus barbecue to the GCPD massacre. In particular, the scene in which he pulls the trigger three times in a row in Russian roulette was a standout. Monoghan's convincing acting helped prove that Jerome was the real deal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLJz288AY0M
