5. No Man's Land

The fact that Gotham managed to reach its fifth season is a huge achievement, and is all the more appreciated considering the Batman-prequel series' fate was up in the air for months - with cancellation thought to be a certainty.

There's no doubt that Gotham's producers would've hoped for another couple of seasons for their show, so that viewers could see Bruce naturally mature and become Batman over time, but having the opportunity to write a final chapter of the story is a blessing nonetheless - especially in today's day and age.

Choosing a narrative for the final season was undoubtedly a tall task for the showrunners. To ensure the show went out on a high, the accompanying story would have to be big and bold - which is why the No Man's Land arc is the perfect choice.

The concept is genius, and not once does it feel imposed upon, or contrived. Executive Producer John Stephens' does a wonderful job with the script - especially in regards to establishing this brave new world that our remaining Gothamites find themselves living in. Everything is up in the air, and the city is in need of a hero now more so than ever, and while Jim Gordon is doing all he can - it's safe to say that it's time for Batman to come in and save the day.
