20 TV Shows That Failed To Stick The Landing
3. The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead never stood a chance.
Based on the comic series by Robert Kirkman, the post-apocalyptic drama suffered from constant behind-the-scenes rifts with showrunners and cast members, leaving every season feeling different in tone and message than the last. It had its highs - season one through five, depending on who you ask - but by its eleventh chapter, it was a mere shell of its former self.
The biggest issues were pacing and character. Whereas previous storylines regarding The Governor and Alexandria were well drawn out and explored, the final seasons of The Walking Dead rushed their biggest conflicts with little character development and awkward timelines. Characters came and went, their intentions were never clear, and the writing felt painfully flat.
It doesn't help that series lead Andrew Lincoln dropped out in season nine, leaving so many thin characters to try to fill the void of his absence - Rosita, Aaron, Ezekiel amongst them. A bit repetitive and emotionally distant, TWD ended with a shrug when it should have ended with a haymaker.
