"I'm going to remember. And when I do, there will be a reckoning." The nature of a prequel series is that, in the end, we know who will wind up in the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. The show, luckily, has not fallen victim the typical problems that plague prequels. Too often are the stories mired down by dramatic irony or predictability. What Hannibal has managed to do is tell a familiar story through a new lens, so that though we may know what the ultimate destination is, we have no idea how long or how devastating the journey will be. Things seem to come to a head in the final moments of this promo, as we see a blood-covered Hannibal attack Crawford and Dr. Bloom with a knife. Is this actually happening, or is it someone's fever dream/nightmare? Regardless of how "real" the bloody brawl may be, it shows that Hannibal is by no means in the clear, and it's only a matter of time before Will is found innocent and the man truly responsible is brought to justice.
