One of the very best things about season two was the fact that pretty much an entire episode was devoted to Freddy, the BBQ joint owner who has Frank as a frequent customer. In this episode, it appears that things are looking up for Freddy, who due to a newspaper article on Frank's regular appearing there, has had offers for a franchise chain of restaurants, as well as mass-manufacturing of his BBQ sauce. It guarantees $95,000 up front, so of course, Freddy is delighted, and signs. He hopes to use that money to reconnect with his son, who he offers a job working at his restaurant. However, this all comes crashing down when journalists do some digging and realise that Freddy has previously been in jail for a traffic accident which killed two elderly persons. Despite the incident taking place years ago, Frank meets with Freddy to tell him that he can no longer see him due to the poor association, and how it might affect his future political maneuvers. Due to all this bad press, Freddy loses the offer for his franchise, and ultimately decides to close the joint down. It's a devastating ending, considering Freddy seemed to be the one character who Frank had never undermined or screwed over, and yet, even he wasn't safe in the end.
