Jacaerys Velaryon is one of those protagonists who is so brave and principled that it's almost irritating to witness.

Perhaps the most engaging facet of Jace's character is the fact that he is aware of his contentious heritage; that being the understatement of the century considering the prospective heir to the Iron Throne is none other than the bastard son of Harwin Strong. Despite this, Jace proves to be a pillar of strength to his younger brother Lucerys, urging him to take no heed of the rumors swirling around their parentage and lack of Valyrian features.

Rhaenyra's son is arguably the bravest figure depicted on the show to date; fearlessly going verbally and physically toe-to-toe with his elder and more physically imposing cousins before valiantly volunteering himself and Luke to serve as envoys in the season's final episode as the two families prepare for war, despite the pair's tender age. Tragically, audiences will likely see a far darker side of Jace emerge in the next season; he does not strike one as a young man to take what he perceives to be the sadistic murder of his beloved brother lightly.

Let us see whether Rhaenyra's eldest is so noble when faced with the opportunity to avenge Luke. Expect the Greens to have to content with an exceedingly vengeful Jace and his dragon Vermax in the second season; one can only hope that Harry Collett will manage to breath a bit more life into his rather wooden performance to date next time around.
