8. The Best Man
This episode takes us back to a fairly comic and well-loved character – Punchy. As well as giving us some foreshadowing towards Barney’s wedding in the last season, this is a comical episode as we get to see all of the best man speeches which Ted has failed at.
Why those high school buddies always chose Ted to give a speech is obvious, as while it certainly wouldn’t be good for a nice, perfect ceremony, it is great for giving your guests a few laughs as they watch a man having a mental breakdown.
Again, however, with none of the main cast getting married in this one, it’s difficult to be very emotionally invested, leaving this wedding simply on the comical side of things. There’s nothing wrong with this of course, and it’s indeed very funny, but it lacks a certain element which some of the other entries on this list share.
