John de Lancie will return to Star Trek as Q!

A teaser trailer for the latter half of Lower Decks first season was released during the Star Trek Lower Decks panel, depicting the return of Judge Q.

This return is hugely welcome news to everyone who had been hoping to see legacy characters make an appearance on the show. Mike McMahon has said that he feels that Q will have an excellent, important effect on the crew.

It was also announced that Kurtwood Smith, previously featured in Star Trek as the Federation President in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Star Trek Voyager, will return in an undisclosed guest role. Likewise, McMahon feels that his role will end up as a crucially important one for the show.

A brand new class of Klingon ship was shown, along with a few Gorn taking a bite of Rutherford.
