Legion: 10 Reasons It's The Best Superhero TV Show Of All Time
4. The Humor Is On Point...
One of the most important aspects of a serious, dramatic show is, ironically, humor. It plays a key role in not only acting as a remedy for the especially heavy moments, but also in baiting the audience into even more heavy moments.
For all of its intense, mind-breaking action, Legion is an incredibly funny show. The main protagonist, David, is beyond hilarious with all of his snarky quips and general sense of fun (in spite of his issues.) Syd can also be humorous, be it on her own or playing off of David. Plus, Cary and Kerry's unique relationship, as well as Ptonomy's mannerisms, often result in some great moments as well. Not to mention Lenny, who is sadistically hilarious from season one's beginning to its end.
In addition, the characters have such a peerless amount of chemistry that all of their respective styles of humor mesh flawlessly. In turn, the sheer amount of laughs to be had is only amplified. Plus, the show's all but perfect combination of both overt and subtle comedy make it a true force to be reckoned with in terms of how charmingly hilarious it can be, which adds to the all-important balance of things
Legion is so well-paced that between the necessary exposition and all of the serious (and sometimes deliberately uncomfortable) moments, it still finds the time to make you laugh. Moreover, the humor never once feels shoehorned. Much like the show's adult-orientated nature or its visual style, the funny moments flow naturally and play a major part in making the show feel like a complete experience.
